Grace 14 years old, the girl that I mentor at the orphanage “Children’s Hope Home” outside Nairobi, Kenya tells me about her daily structured plans for the school. I love to see her smile. She has the greatest loving eyes with a big healthy smile. Then her eyes changes and looks deeply into mine when she tells me out her dream.
“I will become a nurse or a doctor so I can help people.”
She is intensely motivated to move forward getting herself a better future and taking herself out of her difficult past. She knows that it is by her own effort that she will succeed or not.
We talk once a week for an hour about anything and everything. We read and work with our 12-step manual “Yes You Can. Live your dream” of how to make your dream into reality.
In asking if she did the exercises from previous week she proudly answer;
“Of course I did, before I start to study I sit 5 minutes relaxing my mind, breathing and listening to my thoughts. When my mind is calm I start to study.”
It is the greatest feeling of all to make a difference in somebody’s life. To actually see, listen to and almost touch the difference it melts my heart and fulfills my soul.
