Grace, the child whom I mentor

I have just finished talking to my child Grace, whom I mentor. What a wonderful experience. Seeing her shining eyes and her big smile looking at me in the camera over Skype. Wow, what a feeling. She told me that her mother died when she was 3 years old and left her HIV positive. She has taken medicine for her illness ever since and she feels fine.

She is so happy because not everyone gets medicine, so they die. She goes to school 5 Th grade and does great. Her best materials are mathematics and science. She was so happy to hear about the Swedish cold weather and how spring slowly melts the cold away. She spoke some words greeting my 16 years old daughter and they both looked at each other with lots of admiration.

Grace wants to become a nurse, she has an inner drive and hopes that she will do it. She has been living at the orphanage almost her whole life but never giving up hope.

I want to share this story for you to become a mentor as well. It is so easy and it means the world to this kids just to talk to someone foreign and to feel seen, 20 min once a week.

Sign up today and don’t be scared of talking to the kids, If they are brave enough, you can be too.
